Bachelors Of Vocation In Interior Design

Bachelors of vocation in Interior Design (BVOC – ID) is a 3 year Full time Degree programme conducted over 6 semesters of 16 weeks each. The institute follows the syllabus prescribed by the University of Mumbai.

Interior Design pedagogy is an integral knowledge that deals with designing of Interior Built Spaces. It is the art and science that deals with space planning within the building with appropriate synergy to cater to the purpose, anthropometrics, ergonomics, aesthetics, balance between natural and artificial resources etc. to suit the user. Such Space planning may relate to a small residential space to a villa, a shop to a department store, individual’s office to a multinational company, a café to a specialty restaurant, a reception area to a star hotel lobby.

Interior Design education may also lead to many other allied career options like project management, product design, set design, 3D visualizer, vastu consultant, interior photography, media, graphic design, visual merchandising, HVAC consultant, lighting consultant, etc.

Working for an eminent Interior Designing firm and developing a self-distinguished niche is possible after completing this course. The Interior Design profession has a huge potential for becoming an entrepreneur and setting up its own practice.

This shall be a three years, six semesters, full time course with 30 hours college per week. This course shall have a Design Dissertation in the Fifth Semester & Internship in the sixth semester.

The intake of maximum 60 students per batch per year.

The eligibility of the student for entering the first year of this course shall be HSC pass from any stream (Arts / Science / Commerce) or equivalent education.

This programme shall have a Common Entrance Exam / Aptitude test. The same shall be conducted by the institutions running this programme till the time the University starts conducting it.

The University of Mumbai shall be the sole admission authority. The institutions running this programme shall be conducting the said aptitude test, on behalf of the University. They shall declare provisional /final merit list for the allotment of the seats as per merit in various categories based on the rules and regulations laid down by the  University of Mumbai and the Government of Maharashtra, the colleges shall then conduct admission rounds as applicable.

Examinations for Semester-I, Semester-II, Semester-III and Semester-IV   shall be conducted by the colleges, running this course. They will conduct the exams on behalf of the University of Mumbai.

Examinations for Semester-V and Semester-VI to be conducted by University of Mumbai as per the scheme of examination prescribed in the syllabus.
