Interior Designing pedagogy is an integral knowledge that deals designing of Interior Built Spaces. It is the art and science that deals with space planning within the building with appropriate synergy to cater to the purpose, anthropometrics, ergonomics, aesthetics, balance between natural and artificial resources etc. to suit the user. Such Space planning may relate to a small residential space to a villa, a shop to a department store, individual’s office to a multinational company, a café to a specialty restaurant, a reception area to a star hotel lobby.
Bombay Suburban Art and Craft Education Society, L.S. Raheja School of Architecture’s Interior Designing Department is affiliated to the Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education (MSBTE) for conducting Govt. Diploma in Interior Design course for the past 35 years. The college offers 2 years Full time Govt. Diploma in Interior Design(ID) and 3 years Part time Govt. Diploma in Interior Design (IN). The college is one of the oldest Interior Design course conductors in the Mumbai Metropolis and it has always played an important role to work hand in hand with MSBTE for formulating and revising the syllabi to suite the emerging demands of the Interior Design profession. The college is instrumental in only conducting the course as per the syllabi set by the MSBTE and the yearly examinations are conducted by MSBTE. On successful completion of the course the students are conferred with the Diploma by MSBTE. Abiding to this format the college has been a trend setter and has established high standards in the Interior Design Education for its contemporaries to follow. The college is proud to have the largest approved student intake in Govt. Diploma in Interior Design course in Mumbai. The course seekers through rigorous training have been receiving Diploma, but their demands in the industry have made them enterprising entrepreneurs. Format of the Govt. Diploma Courses:
The MSBTE affiliated Govt. Diploma in Courses are operated in 2 formats
1) 2 Year Full time Govt. Diploma in Interior Design (ID) – The course is conducted for 30 hours / week, with total 32 mandatory academic weeks. These 32 weeks are divided with a mid-term winter break after the initial 16 academic weeks. The students along with the regular sessional assignments have to mandatory appear for 2 class tests in each subject. At the end of the academic year the students have to appear for the examination conducted by MSBTE. The students after the completion of the 1st academic year in the summer break have to compulsory undergo professional training by working in Interior Designing firm for a period of min. 45 days.
Institutional Timing :
Monday to Friday – 07:30 am to 02:00 pm. (Inclusive 1/2 hr. break on each day)
2) 3 Year Part time Govt. Diploma in Interior Design (IN) – The course is conducted for 20 hours / week, with total 32 mandatory academic weeks. These 32 weeks are divided with a mid-term winter break after the initial 16 academic weeks. The students along with the regular sessional assignments have to mandatory appear for 2 class tests in each subject. At the end of the academic year the students have to appear for the examination conducted by MSBTE. The students after the completion of the 2nd academic year in the summer break have to compulsory undergo professional training by working in Interior Designing firm for a period of min. 45 days.

Monday to Friday 02:30 pm to 07:00 pm. (Inclusive 1/2 hr. break on each day)
